Marriage, traditionally, was there to provide security, reliability and provide the foundations to start a family. While love of course was a desirable precursor, there was not an expectation for this person to fulfill all our emotions needs like there is today.
This shift, where there’s an expectation for our partner to provide us with stability and security, in addition to continual adventure, surprise and mystery – is a modern-day crisis many of us in long-term relationships face.
