Hey peeps, happy Wednesday! – Or is it? Are you feeling happy today? I don’t mean the ‘at least it’s not Monday,’ or the ‘I’ve got a new whatever‘ kind of happy. I mean that overall sense of well-being, that ‘Happiness-Just-Because’ kind of happy. And if you don’t know what I’m talking about, then I want to invite you to start building a positive thinking attitude about life.

Don’t Count on the World for Joy

… because you’re bound to be disappointed. You see, it’s easy to let your external circumstances dictate your happiness. In fact, we’re all taught this from early on, and it’s reinforced via TV commercials, advertising and the rest. So we get a new car, fall in love, find a better-paying job, have fun plans for the weekend or an upcoming vacation, and temporarily, we’re happy. But what about the rest of the time? If your happiness is dependant on things going on around you (including other peeps attitudes and behaviors), then let me tell you right now – real happiness will allude you.

Happiness is an Inside Job

Happiness, my friends, is an inside job. Happiness  – the real macoy happiness – is a sense of well-being no matter what you’re doing, where you are and who else is doing (or not doing) what.

So how do you get that ‘sense of well being no matter what”? You do it by building a positive thinking attitude about your life, your day, each hour … heck, each breath!

Positive Thinking Attitude Tips

Here’s 3 tips on how to build a positive thinking attitude no matter what’s going on around you.

  1. Meditate. Hey, even 10 minutes of mental ‘down time’ a day – every day – will hugely impact your ability to chill-the-heck-out when life throws you stressful curveballs (or P.I.A. nutballs :))
  2. Appreciate. Make a point of looking for things to be thankful for – the smaller the better. When you give thanks for a good breath of air, the fact that all your fingers work, or that you can think clearly – things you usually take for granted – you’ll start to recognize and embody a sense of happiness just because.
  3. Share the Love. Do a good deed for someone every day. A kind word, a friendly smile, a compliment, cup of coffee or even letting someone merge ahead of you in traffic as you offer them a silent good wish will do wonders for you level of happiness. Try it – you’ll see!

    Before I read this, about a 5.  After, 10!  Sometimes I forget just how fortunate I am!  I CAN take a fresh breath of air, ALL my fingers and toes work, I AM healthy, etc……what else could I ask for?  There are some  people out there who really have bigger things to worry about!  Why should I worry about absolutely senseless things!  Thanks for the reminder, Finerminds:o)
