I have an invitation for you. Are you willing to use a simple self-help tool a minimum of five times a day for the next three days so that you can discover its extraordinary effects?

It’s a method called slow thought defusion.

This tool will help you de-stress and switch to a relaxed, balanced and creative state of mind in under a minute. It will also help you access and experience your true nature as spacious awareness.

When used consistently it has the potential to deepen and accelerate your journey towards emotional balance, true happiness, and spiritual awakening. But please whatever you do, don’t believe me, find out the truth for yourself!

How to Practice Slow Thought Defusion

Think of a situation that you are feeling stressed about. Notice the thoughts that you are having about that situation.

Find a short sentence that encapsulates the essence of what it is that you are stressed about. For example, “There is no way I’ll get this work done on time”.

Now do the following:

  1. Drop your attention into the lower part of your abdomen (just a couple of centimeters below your navel) and keep your focus there throughout
  2. Now say the sentence very slowly and out loud, (if you are in a public place you can do it in your head, but it is even better if done out loud). There should be at least five seconds gap between each word. As you do this breath gently and–THIS IS KEY–keep your attention on the space in between each thought. If you notice your mind trying to rush things (which it tends to do!) just allow an even longer gap between each word.
  3. Repeat this whole process two more times.

Notice what has changed about your experience. How do you feel? How do you now feel about the ‘problem’?

Creating Space

90% of the time people use slow thought defusion, an extraordinary thing happens; they shift from identifying with a stressful thought to experiencing a sense of balance, spaciousness and calm – the true Self.

Notice how when you are aligned with the true Self it transforms the way you feel and transforms your perspective on whatever the original situation or issue was! Notice how relative to the issue you feel so much more powerful.

If you choose to do so and whilst resting in this state the true Self, ask yourself this question: What do I need to do to address this issue (whatever the stressful issue was)?

More often than not one of two responses will arise, either the ‘problem’ is seen for what it was–‘just thoughts’–or you’ll just know how to deal with it in a practical, balanced and efficient way.

Thought vs Belief

The truth is that we were never supposed to believe everything we think! One of the fundamental skills for conscious living and personal development is choosing what to believe and what not to.

What’s more, as you start to live in alignment with the true Self, life starts to unfold in incredible and often unexpected ways. It’s one of the master keys to living an awesome life!

Enjoy using slow thought defusion and let me know how you get on, I’d love to hear from you

Peace & Blessings,

Dr. Mark Atkinson

Hi Vishen and Dr Mark Atkinson,

Thanks so much for the Slow Thought Defusion technique. Wow! What a difference it makes.

I made the gap as long as it needed to be, so that I could feel the letting go in my lower abdomen. I tended to naturally take a deeper breath at this point. And now, I feel sooooo much calmer and more centred.

May I gently point out a couple of typos?
Step 1. "….keep your attention their throughout." (instead of there)
And, most amusingly, from step 2 (if you are in a public place you can do it on your head). Sounds like fun but standing on your head and speaking really slowly out loud would be sure to get some strange looks, don't you think!

Thanks again for the tip though. I will commit to the 5x a day for 3 days trial 'cos it feels fantastic.

    Cheers
