Believe it or not, we all sometimes wish that life should give us a reset button so that we can start anew. Why not take an opportunity and make your life better? After all, New Year can be the perfect time for new beginnings.

With new goals, new resolutions and better commitments it’s time to leave your dissatisfaction and reset your life. Here are our best tips on how to make a positive change in your life this year.

1. Understand What Restart Means to You

Starting over a new phase of life is not just like recouping yourself from failure. It is more of empowering yourself and reigniting your passion. What are you today is a lot different from what you were yesterday. So with all that knowledge and understanding about life how can you make your life better than before? It doesn’t matter what you could not achieve in the past. What matters is how ready you are to take upon your future.

2. Retreat Yourself

We all feel burnt out at times. We all have had stressful days at some point in our life. So why not begin with a little retreat. It’s a good way to replenish ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally. Think about ways you want to retreat yourself. You may start with a workout routine, go for a vacation, brain dump some ideas on your journal, listen to some music or watch happy movies. Do anything and everything that makes you feel fresh.

3. Declutter

By decluttering, we not only mean decluttering your home but also your mind. You can build a list of to-dos that you have wanted to do but procrastinating all through the past year and start working on each of them. This could be as simple as cleaning up your desk or decluttering your wardrobe, your kitchen or any area of your home but one at a time. It will make you feel a thousand times better than before. Put on a nice podcast or refreshing music to lighten your mood while you clean up.

4. Plan Your Year

Having a plan makes the future appear a little less scary. So start with building one. Look back in the past and make a list of things that you are grateful for, all your accomplishments, your proud moments and the challenges that you overcame. Then make a list of things that you are looking forward to this year. That could be creating a bucket list or just a list of changes you want in your life. This will help you build a perspective for this year.

5. Goal Setting

Once you have a clear picture of what you want and what not it’s time to set some attainable goals for this year. These could be brand new goals or some that you are working upon from the past year.

The main thing is you have to look at them from a new perspective. Picking up goals or New Year resolutions can be little overwhelming but don’t worry–start with two or three first if you like.

6. Create a Vision Board

We all want to achieve our goals, but we often lack the motivation to pursue them regularly. Visualization is a powerful tool that can help you achieve anything in life. It can motivate you every single minute of your day and remind you of your choices and decisions.

An easy way to do this is to have a vision board in your room. It will help you gain a visual focus on your life. You never know when your little dream may turn into something big.

7. Create a Motivational Environment

The place where you work or spend most of your time impacts your mindset. So, build an environment that empowers you and keeps you closer to your goals.

To achieve this make a list of things that you want to get rid of, or you want to stop doing and similarly a list of things that you want to start doing this year. Pick them up one by one and start building your surroundings accordingly. For instance, if reading a book a month is your goal, keep books around you all the time so that you can reach them without an excuse.

With New Year comes the ‘New Year New Me,’ an opportunity to create a whole new life. Who said that you cannot pick up new habits in any phase of your life? You can rise up and recreate yourself anytime. All that matters is that you decide never to look back. And then, you are unstoppable! So, with this spirit approach your goals in the right way. Take that committed choice!
