What’s the value of using positive affirmations for self-esteem? Well, for anyone whose ever doubted their worth – related to money, love, health or any other area of life – a whole lot, I’d say!
Self-worth is one of those slightly elusive things. Kind of like staring at something on the other side of a dim room – when you look too closely its hard to see, but when you look away, it’s pretty clear from the corner of your eye.
The thing is, a lot of us were raised in less-than-ideal conditions for stellar self-esteem. Part of it is related to ‘normal’ ideas about parenting, which can include discouraging too much exploration and self-expression in a child. But there are plenty of other factors too.
Now what I suggest, since lots of folks (more than you might think) struggle with low self-esteem in at least one area of their lives, is this: rather than muck about in all the ‘whys’ and ‘wherefores’ of the limits to your self-esteem, why not just use daily affirmations to upgrade and uplift yourself?
Affirmations for self-esteem are easy to create. All you need to do is uncover an area where low self-esteem seems to be manifesting (like being over-worked and under-paid, having relationships with people who treat you with disregard, or not taking good care of your health), then create statements that reflect what you want and why you deserve it. (Hint: it’s usually the opposite of what you’re currently getting).
Here are some to start:
- My time and efforts are valuable and I receive abundantly for what I do.
- Every day I value myself a little more.
- I deserve and draw to me love and respect.
- I value and care for myself.
- I draw to me only people who appreciate me.
- I love and appreciate myself.
- The more I value myself, the more others value me.
- I listen to and honor my needs.
When you’re creating your affirmations, keep in mind that you want to make positive statements and that they feel good to you when you say them. Also be sure to say them at least a few times every day :)
