As we all know from having passed Law of Attraction 101, wherever we direct our powerful thoughts expansion occurs. If we focus on lack and limitation, we’ll attract more lack and limitation. If we direct our thoughts to what’s good and abundant, we’ll attract more good and abundance. Nothing new here.
So why then is it that even when we’re vigilantly putting our attention in all the right places, nothing changes?

Why does it often seem like some subtle undefined energy is thwarting our best efforts?

Most likely, there are numerous reasons, but we know of only one that has scientific verification to back it up: There might be too many people in your life who don’t want you to get what you desire, that want to stop your success and you are affected by their thoughts.

Researcher, lecturer, and author of The Intention Experiment, Lynne McTaggart, has devoted years of her life to extensively investigating this phenomenon. She’s interviewed physicists and other researchers around the world and collected the most extensive data available on how our thoughts can measurably affect the people we’re focusing on.

Lynne’s breakthrough work on the power of our minds to change reality has been corroborated at prestigious research universities such as Princeton, MIT, Stanford, and more. The research concludes that thought generates its own palpable energy, which you can use to improve your life, to affect the lives of others and, when harnessed together with an interconnected group, to change the world.

With that in mind, here are the million-dollar questions…

  1. Who in your life might be thinking thoughts that aren’t supporting your success and happiness?
  2. Are there people who for one reason or another might not want you to succeed?
  3. Do you have friends who hold the belief that if you succeed that might take something away from them or might decrease their chances for success?
  4. Might they be creating a field of resistance that’s holding you back?
  5. Is it wise to continue to have those people in your life?

In June of 2014, Debra had a powerful direct experience that might sound a little woo-woo to some, but if you can suspend your disbelief, you’ll definitely agree that this experience substantiates what The Intention Experiment has concluded.

Here is Debra’s story in her own words…

I thought it was just the flu but usually I can knock a flu out in a day with my cache of Echinacea, golden seal and vitamin C. This time, even though I executed my usual routine, as each day passed, I was not getting any better, but rather the illness was spreading throughout my body and my energy was disappearing. By the fifth day I was sicker than I had ever been in my life. So sick, that I called 911.

When the paramedics arrived and asked what hospital I wanted to go to, I mustered the strength to whisper my preference. After a quick discussion, they concluded that I might not survive the ten-minute trip and they said that are going to take me to a small hospital around the corner. My blood pressure at that point was 67/28.

It turned out I had what is known as an advanced sepsis. I had two types of deadly bacteria in my blood. Most people don’t survive this.

When I arrived at the ER and they began hooking me up to every machine possible and putting tubes into orifices I didn’t even know I had, I started to lose consciousness. I guess I had what might be termed a near death experience but I didn’t go through any dark tunnel or meet any Being of light. I simply noticed that when my eyes were open I could see what was going on in the room and when my eyes were closed I could also see what was going on but everything was being orchestrated by a divine light.

Every movement of every person in the room (and there were many rushing around to save my life) was being guided by this light. And with the precision of a fine-tuned watch, each cog in the wheel fit beautiful and flowed into the next. Even in the high-intensity ER the light made sure that everything happened with a peaceful effortlessness although the outward appearance was one of chaos. I saw that on the level of the light, there was no such thing as a mistake.  Even seeming mistakes were all part of the perfect plan.

And then the most amazing thing happened.  One of the nurses went over to my husband, put her hand on his shoulder, and although it looked like I wasn’t going to make it, said to him, “Don’t worry.  She’s going to be fine.”  And as the words came out of her mouth I saw this sparkling pink energy accompany them and this pink light went from her mouth into my body and made me stronger.

“How fascinating,” I thought, “Your words really can create reality.”

Then, a few moments later, the doctor came in, looked at the monitors and in a very tense and urgent voice said, “Get that blood pressure up or we’re going to lose her.” His words were accompanied by a murky grey-brown energy that even had the smell of a putrid swamp. The words went into my physiology and drained what little strength I had.

Then I noticed that I could see the effect of the thoughts of the other people in the room. The thoughts of the one’s who figured I was going to die and didn’t really care one way or the other as it was just another day in the ER didn’t affect me. The thoughts of those who really wanted me to live gave me strength. And there was one person who wanted me to die as I was messing up his lunch plans. His thoughts affected me negatively but only slightly.

So here I am clinging to life by a thread and I have the clear realization that if I could only muster up the strength to speak and could ask everybody in the room to gather ‘round and think, “She’s going to be fine,” I could have jumped up off the gurney and headed to the gym for a nice workout.

resistance to success

You’ll be happy to know that Debra lived and we’re both fascinated by some of Lynne McTaggart’s latest work where she has groups of people putting their attention on each other’s success, happiness, and physical and emotional healing through what she calls The Groups of Eight.

In this work she has the members of the group put their attention on one member at a time. The miracles that these group intentions are creating for individuals are far beyond what they could generate themselves including healings, loved ones being reunited, relationships ending lost pets showing up, businesses turning around and more.

So if this is all true, wouldn’t it be fantastic to have people around you who genuinely desire the best and highest for you?

Why not get a group of friends together on a regular basis to give intention on the fulfilment of each other’s goals and desires? You can do your own experiment.

And you also might want to take an inventory of your current comrades.  It might be time to clean house.
