Every one of us has faced a time in life that made us lose hope and confidence.  For some, it becomes a new lifestyle. The negativity from one event or series of events makes you so exhausted that you are filled with sorrow and start to believe that nothing else could be done with life.

Remember that you can write your story the way you want until you take your last breath. You can change your methods of life whenever you want. For that, all you need is perseverance, hope, self-confidence, and positive thinking.

What is positive thinking?

Positive thinking does not mean that you have to just think about the good things that could happen to you but do nothing about it. Although thought is a significant part of it, positive thinking is a complete lifestyle shift to make if you want to live your life on your own terms and gain happiness and prosperity.

If you want to inculcate the mantra of positive thinking in your life, you have to follow some rules and practices; only then will it start to create a difference in your life and will provide positive outcomes. You can only regain confidence if you take care of your physical and mental wellbeing.

Here are a few steps that would help you to move towards positive thinking. If you want to make it a lifestyle, you have to be persistent and patient until you receive the positive benefits.

1. Forgive yourself

We all make mistakes and poor decisions that may affect significant change in our personalities or life. If you blame yourself for any mishap consciously or unconsciously, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

There is a famous saying that one cannot pour out of an empty vessel and to pour out positivity from yourself and have an aura that reflects it you need to go easy on yourself. Do not put yourself down and learn from your mistakes.

2. Stay away from the past

The past is an experience, and it is only in your memory. Hou can learn from it and not make similar mistakes twice. Other than that, there is no reason to live in the past – whether it was dark or glorious. You’re done with that phase, and now it is the time to move on.

Even if you carry scars, wear them as medals and reminders that you have made sacrifices in life, and you have learned from them. Move forward and leave the past to be looked upon only in pictures.

3. Live in the moment

Living in the moment means to make the most out of every day and gradually move towards a better future. You have to make each day productive and have an outcome based on the practices you attempted every day.

Living in the moment, not getting upset about the past, and not worrying about the future will make you enjoy the present and make the most out of every day. This practice will make you be productive every single day and have long term positive outcomes.

4. Speak positive

Your positivity has to reflect in your words. If you think that you are moving towards being positive but continuously use words like “couldn’t,” “can’t,” and “wouldn’t,” you might still have a long way to go. You have to be selective with your words and utilize words in your life that emit positivity and hops for yourself and everyone around you.

5. Breathe

It may seem a minor aspect, but it is a fact that many of us tend to forget deep breathing. Deep inhaling and exhaling exercises are very important to smoothen the oxygen flow to the brain. They also help in clearing the mind and improving focus.

We get so stressed that our breathing patterns become mechanical and do not allow us to relax. Practice breathing exercises daily for at least ten minutes. You will start noticing the changes to your mood, mental and physical health.

6. Be active

People facing depression tend to ignore physical activity. This only results in making matters worse.

Physical activities not only improve overall physical health but specifically, increase blood flow to the heart and the brain make these organs healthier and able to function more effectively.

Exercise will make the mind-body connection stronger and will help you to develop affirmative thoughts. It is human nature to feel good when they look good.

7. Be grateful

Gratitude and is also an essential part of containing positive attitude. No matter what challenges you’ve faced or are still facing, there are always worse examples all around. You have to be thankful that you are still at a much better place.

Be grateful to yourself, nature, and the people around you and that gratitude will automatically attract positivity towards you.
