Still not manifesting your dream life and wondering why?

Well, maybe your limiting beliefs are getting in the way. Today I’d like to have a little ‘talk’ with you about limiting beliefs and the annoying habit they seem to have of stealthily undermining even your best efforts.

It happens to a lot of us. When it comes to manifestation and limiting beliefs, there are three things to keep in mind:

  1. The power of your subconscious
  2. Patience is a virtue
  3. It’s a full-time gig.

Let’s have a closer look at each of these points and see how they affect your ability to manifest your desires.

1. The Power of Your Subconscious

Positive thinking is important, but here’s the thing: your subconscious mind has a ‘mind’ of its own, and until you set your sites on bringing awareness to your automatic, unconscious thoughts, you’re not going to see a lot of change.

What does this mean?

It means paying attention to what you’re thinking about when you’re doing mundane things like cooking, driving, cleaning or walking the dog. It means stirring up the beliefs and values that your parents and society imprinted on you as a kid and questioning whether you even believe or want them anymore.

I can’t tell you how many people have said things to me like, I believe in the Law of Attraction, it just doesn’t work for me.

Oh, you are so special that one of the major laws of the universe has exempted you! Right.

Hey, not that I don’t think every single one of us is special, because we are, but when these same peeps start defying other laws like gravity, I’ll start to believe in their cosmic exemption. No, it’s not that ‘it doesn’t work’ for some people. It’s that some people can’t harness the law of attraction for manifestation because their subconscious minds undermine every positive affirmation they make.

2. Patience is a Virtue

My dad used to tell me “patience is a virtue” every time I got excited about some future event or frustrated when things didn’t happen when I wanted them too. As a kid, I didn’t really understand what he meant, but boy-oh-boy do I understand now.

My youthful impatience continued on into adulthood and right through into my initiation into the world of conscious manifestation. I’d apply all the rules and protocols, then get frustrated when instant manifestation didn’t occur. As soon as I didn’t see what I wanted showing up, I’d feel frustrated and impatient – and then I’d start to doubt.

Here’s the thing: in our dense physical world, manifestation sometimes takes a little time. Just because we don’t see instant results doesn’t mean the universe isn’t ‘going to bat’ for us at that very moment, lining up the circumstances, peeps, and events that will unfold into exactly what we’re wanting.

So my advice? Be patient :)

3. It’s a Full-Time Gig

Just like life, consciousness and awareness about what you’re thinking and intending is a full-time gig. Sorry, but taking the weekends off to bitch, moan and criticize does not a conscious person make. You want a life worth living? Then eliminating your limiting beliefs and negative attitudes is a-priori – all the time.

I’ve overcome a bunch of limiting beliefs through the years by shining the light of consciousness on my subconscious thinking, being patient and staying committed to positive change.

One of the biggest of these was my limiting belief that I’d never find a good relationship or get to live in my beloved Rocky Mountains again. This went on for about 5 years until I finally got momentum with the principles of the law of attraction. How about you? Do you have a huge limiting belief you’re ready to overcome? Leave a comment and let us know.

P.S. Do you have limiting beliefs that are holding you back from becoming your best self?

The way we think about the world affects our experience in it — for good or for bad. Vishen Lakhiani’s transformational course, Consciousness Engineering, allows you to challenge any limiting beliefs you may hold. Try it out and live without limits today!

My biggest limiting belief is feeling undeserving of the good things in life. I am struggling with it, even after recognizing it’s existence for years now. I know I am missing something in all this, but not sure what it is.

Gratitude …. if it already exists and you’ve earned it, appreciate it. :)

I felt the same but here is a tip to help you. I convinced myself that I’m a child of God and as such I DESERVE ONLY the good in life! Then repeat it to yourself from morning to sleep, and don’t use it to do any harm – but feel forgiven:)

great article, dawn, like all your other ones too :o)

i needed this piece of advice so very badly. i feel stuck in my life for the past four to five years now. where i want to be is the place i seem last going there. like you said, i DO believe in the law of attraction and works every time for all the little favours i ask of it – but this one big one.

you talk of ‘the power of your subconscious’ and i now fully understand and agree that that is what has/is being my limiting belief. there is toooooooooooooooo much negativity up there. and occupies 80% to 90% of my time during random thought processes. a lot of the past comes out in front and angers me to no end.

could you advise in how to control my subconscious?
what are the steps/measures to take in overcoming the limiting beliefs?

    greatly appreciate it.
    best wishes.

One of my first few steps to controlling my subconscious was to lay still and think about absolutely nothing. Clear the mind stopping ALL thoughts. Once you can do that on a regular basis, even thoughout your day while fully awake carrying on with your daily activities, you are gaining control of your subconscious because your physical state will be the only form of thought as you are there in the moment forgetting the negativity of the past. It is called keeping the mind where the body is. :)

Hi,yes I have limiting belief, when I think positive every thing is ok,but when I doing other things some times I think it’s ok and the other times the negetive thoughts come to my mind.I try not to be like that but I don’t know what should I do exactly.

    • Avatar Shamela says:

Train your thoughts with firm discipline like training a new pet. When it is about to do something wrong, stop it and correct it before it happens …. prevention is better than the cure. Something else I’ve learned. :)

  • Avatar maryamm says:

yes,I have limiting belief, sometimes the negetive thoughts come to my mind, and I don’t know haw can I have a ubconscious  mind?

Your conscious mind and self-doubt (subconscious) battle all the time. Remember that saying about sticks and stones?? well, names definitely do hurt. Verbal abuse is almost worse than a physical scar which can eventually fade away but those negative thoughts that the subconscious hold ever so close of a connection to the conscious mind plays over and over again which causes a majority of limited beliefs. It is important to love what you see in the mirror :)
As for patience? as Dr. Wayne W. Dyer would say … “Each place along the way is somewhere you had to be in order to be here.” so yes, patience is definitely a virtue!
Last but not least …. be your best friend! :)

  • Avatar Nicole says:

Thank you for reminding us about patience…it is good to remember this in the midst of making and creating change. Its about focus and letting go; trusting that the things are shifting eventhough we can’t see it yet and trusting that the universe is bringing us what we want. Many thanks.

I have suffered from low self-esteem for most of my life.  I have no idea how to overcome it.  When my friends tell me good things about my character or talent in drawing or writing, I can’t actually bring myself to believe it.  Not that I think these people are lying, but that they are being kind.  I want to believe in me. I want to have faith in my abilities and not be afraid to show it.  How do I get out of my own way????

  • Avatar Marian Marcus says:

I struggle with my limiting beliefs with my finances, my mother told me when I was young that I was poor. I didn’t even know what poor meant. Whenever I tried to accomplish something, I was made fun of or ridiculed. It was horrible, I’ve always known that this is wrong and until one day I met a woman that taught me about metaphysics and my life complete changed.  But my doubt and unbelief has been such a huge part of my subconscious that I need help turning this around.
