WakeUp Festival 2012Picture yourself in a magnificent, Rocky Mountain Valley … peaks surround you, clouds roll through, a massive elk pays you a silent visit, and you – one of 800 souls awakening to a more conscious, fulfilling life …

Sound too good to be true? Nope! It was SoundsTrue, the multi-media publishing company, and their inaugural WakeUp Festival, held in August this year, and sponsored in part by Mindvalley.

SoundsTrue founder, Tami Simon brought together stellar authors, musicians and spiritual teachers for a five-day celebration of powerful, positive vibrations (and yes, the elk really did visit).

Teachers, Trance Dancing And Transformation

In Estes Park Colorado, at almost 9,000 feet in the clouds, peeps from around the world were getting high on top-notch wisdom teachings, turbo-charged trance dancing and deeply transformational processes from some of our planet’s most inspiring spiritual leaders.

It might be name-dropping, but this is no joke. Imagine spending your days …

  • Doing your morning yoga practice with Shiva Rae
  • Getting lit-up with inspiration from Michael Bernard Beckwith
  • Contacting your spirit guides and animal allies in shamanic journeys with Sandra Ingerman
  • Learning liberation directly from meditation masters Adyashanti, Gangaji, Reggie Ray and Jack Kornfield.
  • Making the changes you need for greater joy, with Caroline Myss and Matthew Fox.
A Celebration Of Being And Becoming

A celebration is how the WakeUp Festival can be described. Because not only did we sit with meditation masters, take shamanic journeys to the beat of a steady drum, or face our less appealing characteristics …

We danced! We sang! We celebrated! DJ Alex Theory took us on an after dark journey of ecstatic dance power, while Shiva Rae’s trance yoga and Snatam Kaur’s kirtan had us drifting into bliss.

A Surprise Phantom Visits

And if this weren’t awesome enough, we were graced with a phantom … not the one rising from the hidden recesses of your subconscious, but the broadway superstar and his leading lady, Sandra Joseph, who sang on stage to a drop-jaw audience.

Real Bliss

During my five days at WakeUp, I made friends with folks from different walks of life and different points on their “spiritual journey” – from elders with decades of wisdom to share, to those just awakening to their power and purpose. But one thing we all shared was this:

A powerful desire to make our own lives better in order to be of greater service to all life.

This was not about simply having fun. It was not about personal growth for solely personal gain. It was not about Bacchanalian frenzy. WakeUp was exactly what it claimed to be – a festival of awakening, guided by those who have awakened to the greater reality of our ultimate oneness.

In other words, real bliss … and it was a blast!

Will you join us in the heavenly-high rocky mountains next year? I hope so! In the meantime, check out Awesomeness Fest 2012 which is being held in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico in November!
