Do you want true liberation? Do you want to know what it’s like to really be free? Well you’ve got the key inside you. It’s positive thinking, and believe me, it will get you there. Why? Because True Freedom is a State of Mind.
Okay, you may well want to point out that I’ve got a lot of nerve saying such things when people are suffering, unjustly imprisoned, living under siege or starving. And you’d be right. To many of our brothers and sisters on this earth, even the concept of freedom is a luxury beyond their imagining. And while there are many great masters who would insist that despite this, nothing can take away even the poorest, most oppressed man’s dignity, I’m not yet of that caliber, so will speak more plainly.
And the plain truth is, if you’re reading this, you’re definitely in the position to get free with positive thinking. And here’s how you do it …
1. No More Unconsciousness
I’m amazed when I hear people speak with such deep unconsciousness – even those who espouse spiritual awareness. If I had a dime for every time I heard the word ‘hate’ come out of someone’s mouth, I think I could quite my job. “I hate these shoes,” “I hate it when that happens,” “I hate watching the news.” Shoot, just yesterday I heard someone say, “I hate myself today.” !@#$!!??! What?!?!?!
The first step to positive thinking is to start noticing – really noticing – what you say to yourself, and what you say out loud. Positive thinking is pointless if it’s just something you do once in awhile.
2. “Break!”
Once you’re in the habit of noticing your thoughts – of consciously becoming aware of them most of the time – then, and only then, are you in a position to change them. And so the next step is to literally break the train of negative thought. When you notice yourself rolling down Negitude Boulevard, come to an immediate and screeching halt. Say ‘break!’ either silently or even out loud, then consciously insert a positive thought that, ideally, has nothing at all to do with the previous set of thoughts.
3. Practice
All the time, every day, no exceptions. The more you can do this, the quicker you can make the change – both in your brain’s wiring and your daily habits of thought – from negative thinking and speaking, to the freedom that comes from positive thinking for life!
