With more than a decade of experience as a master intuitive healer, I can tell you that there are countless ways to heal, clear, and shift energy.

One of the easiest and most fascinating ways to heal is the use of crystals. However, if you’re new to crystal healing, you might feel a bit overwhelmed when deciding which crystals you should buy, use, or select for a particular healing.

While you indeed could embark on an intensive study of crystals to gain mastery, there are faster, easier, more cost-effective ways to get started with crystal healing.

Use What You’ve Got

Odds are, you may already own a few crystals, whether you realize it or not. Take a look around your home with a keen eye and gather up any crystals you find. You might discover you have crystals disguised as paperweights, gemstones, decorative accents, a pendulum, or jewelry.

To grow your collection even more, ask a friend or two to do the same and pool your resources. You can start doing crystal healing work with what you’ve already gathered, and then add new stones to your collection as you need them.

A Girl Walks Into a Rock Shop…

If you find you truly have no crystals in your possession, or if you’re ready to expand your collection, the simplest method is to walk into a local metaphysical shop and notice what catches your eye. When you’re attracted to a particular stone, find out its name, and then look up its metaphysical meaning and healing properties. You’ll be amazed at how often the rock you’re attracted to turns out to be the perfect healing stone for whatever you most want to shift or improve in your life.

I once brought an out-of-town friend of mine to a local rock shop (that’s what I call metaphysical shops that carry a lot of crystals and gemstones). This particular friend had made it clear to me that he was not at all into any of my “woo-woo stuff” like crystals or energy work. I told him that was fine but suggested that we just pop into my favorite rock shop to have a look around, and he agreed.

At the time, he had recently published a how-to book about setting up your own mastermind, and he was very keen to do more work that involved leading groups of individuals toward success in their businesses.

Sure enough, we walk into the shop, and he couldn’t take his eyes off a marbled blue stone called sodalite. You should have seen the look on his face when I pulled the nearest crystal guidebook off the shelf in the shop and showed him the metaphysical meaning and healing properties of sodalite! That particular stone is all about leadership and group work. Once he picked his jaw up off the ground, he bought several pieces of sodalite to take back to his home and office.

So you see, even individuals who don’t consider themselves to be intuitive can still use this method to select their perfect healing crystals.

My favorite crystal reference book is The Crystal Bible by Judy Hall. This guide includes photographs, physical descriptions, countries of origin, healing properties, and metaphysical associations for a wide range of crystals and gemstones; plus it’s concise yet well organized.

My recommendation is to walk into a rock shop, see what speaks to you, and then check The Crystal Bible and prepare to be amazed by your ability to select precisely the stone you most need right now.

Start with a Basic Kit

Another easy way to get started with crystal healing is by purchasing a chakra balancing crystal kit. These basic kits are typically available for under $25 and include seven crystals, roughly similar in size.

The kit is designed to associate each chakra with a corresponding stone, and it’s a great way to get your feet wet with crystal healing. Plus you’ll find you can quickly move on to do a lot more with crystal healing beyond merely balancing the chakras. Chakra balancing kits typically include a clear quartz, which is a versatile healing stone that amplifies energy and is excellent for all-purpose healing. Once you get a handle on using the seven stones in a basic kit, it’s easy enough to add to your collection and expand your awareness around crystal healing.

Other Forms of Crystal Healing

Many years ago, when I first became interested in crystal healing, one of the first stones I was drawn to was a small flat piece of tiger iron. Tiger iron is a blended stone that features a combination of tiger’s eye, hematite, and red jasper. I didn’t know why I was drawn to this particular crystal at the time, but one day I felt an impulse to lie down and place the stone on my forehead. As a result, my third eye opened and subsequently, my intuitive abilities soared

Placing crystals on the body (as you feel guided to do so) is an intuitive form of crystal healing that is often remarkably effective.

Crystal grids are also potent forms of healing and protection. You can place crystals in a grid around a space (for example, imagine a square or rectangle and put a crystal on each corner), or you can design a crystal grid in any formation in a much smaller space like a table or nightstand.

You can set a specific intention for the grid, its purpose, and the space inside of it. For example, you might set a grid around your bedroom or your home as a form of protection, or you might place a smaller grid on a table, on top of a $20 bill with the intention to heal financial issues or bring in greater abundance by blessing and multiplying what you’ve already received. (Incidentally, citrine, aventurine, and jade are three crystals that are excellent for manifesting money.)

In Case You Just Can’t Wait…

If you can’t wait another minute to begin exploring the splendor of healing with crystals, or if cash flow is an issue and you don’t have the resources to go out and start your crystal collection today, here’s a quick and nearly free solution. Search online for images of crystals and when you find the ones you’re most attracted to, print these out to use in a grid or place on your vision board so you can begin working with the healing energy of those crystals immediately.

Sure, it’s not as satisfying as holding the actual stone in your hand, but it is a way you can get started now.

As you can see, there’s no need to feel overwhelmed by the many choices available when selecting crystals. Just begin today and see where the journey leads you.
