Last Monday, I wrote about Fat Triggers. All this while, we associated our weight loss struggles with limiting food and intensive exercise regimens. Little did we know that there are nine underlying emotional and environmental sabotagers that anchor our excess weight, hiding within us like spywares clogging up our minds and our systems.
Yesterday, thousands around the world, including myself, attended Jon Gabriel’s one-hour webinar, where he shared his story and explained the carefully designed Gabriel Code Body Transformation Journey (for easier consumption I shall henceforth refer to it as just the Gabriel Code), a 6-week online series of intimate coaching sessions with Jon himself.
From the quiz I took, I knew my primary triggers: Chronic Dieting and Lifestyle Stress. Jon, who’s very straightforward and nonchalant in his speech, was particularly adamant about his thoughts on dieting. “If there’s one thing that I want you to take away from this, is that dieting makes your body want to be fat; take that away,” he kept repeating in his webinar.
An interesting comparison Jon made to chronic dieting reminded me very much of something my brother had once said. In the past, when man faced winter with no food – our bodies went into “famine” mode. We grew hungrier, our metabolism slowed down and we lost the ability to burn fat.
Like any stubborn sibling, it was only after hearing it from Jon that this notion was hammered into my conscience, than when it had came from my brother.
Back to the seminar. While I didn’t rank high with the other seven Fat Triggers in my quiz results, there were still situations that strongly applied to me in those areas. Two in particular, in fact – Toxicity and Limiting Beliefs.
If there’s one thing that I’ve been told repeatedly by the weight loss “consultants” that have assessed my body, is that I have a lot of trapped toxins, which contributes to another recurring analysis – water retention. Given my hectic working hours I tend to close one eye to the non-organic produce, manufactured grains and processed foods that I consume for the sake of relieving my appetite.
As for Limiting Beliefs, well – this pairs rather suitably with Lifestyle Stress, given the amount of pressure I’ve had to deal with in my work and personal life. If the mind is powerful in creating chemicals for our bodies, then I’m pretty sure my body produces cortisol like factories do plastic.
Did I just catch myself manifesting a limiting belief? I believe I just did.
“Your beliefs shape your reality – and if you don’t believe you can lose weight on both a conscious and subconscious level, you won’t,” said Jon. These beliefs could be rooted from one to a thousand influences, including bad experience with failed diets or having people in your life who constantly stress on your body shape.
Through this webinar I also experienced my first ever visualization exercise, where Jon had me imagine a white light circling in and around my body, symbolizing the eliminator to my Fat Triggers. I’m not sure if I had done it right, but if visualization is what it takes for the triggers to be switched off for good then I’ll warp my entire focus to my wits-end into getting it right.
And that’s what will be included in the 6-week series. Visualization exercises with Jon to make my mind stronger and reprogram my body into feeling safe. By addressing my triggers systematically, I will (hopefully) understand what makes by body want to be fat, and what would make it want to be thin. “You have to nourish your body and nourish your mind, so your body won’t be in a perpetual state of famine,” Jon insisted.
My Gabriel Code journey officially begins this July 24th 2012. I have to say, there is giddiness in this anticipation. I’ve put my body through so many different plans and treatments that the Gabriel Code makes for a different and legit investment.
Here’s to my nourished mind and body – and saying goodbye to my Fat Triggers.
