Librarian Hour Wisdom from The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur

Michael Michalowicz (he prefers “Mike”) is an author, entrepreneur, lecturer, and television personality who travels around the United States lecturing on behavioral marketing techniques, entrepreneurship, and sales.

His toilet paper entrepreneur philosophy is based on the premise that starting a business with fewer resources actually works to your benefit.

This is because:

• You’re more than likely forced to “make do” with what you have
• You have to learn to pull miracles out of the trash, and
• Ultimately you’ll learn to make more and more out of less and less.

In the video above, Mike describes – in his own humor-filled way – why it’s important to set aside “library hours” – a set time during at the office during which there are no distractions. In his own office, they block from 10:00 a.m. until noon as the time during which all phones, are turned off and workers refrain from reading emails, tweeting, and etc.– all for the sake of increased productivity.

Says Mike, “Librarians know that if it’s totally quiet in the environment you’re in and there’s no distractions, productivity will increase.”

So total peace and quiet…that’s one way! What other ways can you recommend to hone your focus and eliminate distractions?
